How to Make a Christmas Table Centerpiece

Introduction

It’s easy to create a beautiful Christmas table centerpiece using fresh, evergreen materials from your garden or a local florist. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

Materials

  • Foliage with berries
  • Velvet ribbon
  • White napkins
  • White hellebores
  • White kalanchoe
  • Butcher’s broom
  • Asparagus fern
  • Sphagnum moss
  • Container with no drainage holes
  • Candles and holders
  • Ornaments
  • Lengths of ivy
  • Blue spruce branches or noble fir
  • Brass wreath ring
  • Compost
  • Low VOC gold spray paint

Step 1: Prepare the Ivy Sprigs

Spray sprigs of ivy with berries using a low VOC gold spray paint. Let them dry overnight in a well-ventilated area.

Step 2: Decorate the Napkins

Tie velvet ribbon around folded white napkins and secure it with tape at the back. Attach the gold-painted ivy sprigs to the napkins as shown.

Step 3: Create the Centerpiece

In a container with no drainage holes, plant hellebores and kalanchoe. Add a moss mulch and push cut pieces of asparagus fern and butcher’s broom into the compost. Keep the centerpiece moist for two to three weeks to extend its lifespan.

Finishing Touches

  • Create a green, gold, and white theme with white candles and bronze details.
  • After Christmas, hellebores can be planted in the garden.
